Why Is My Auto Close Timer Not Closing My Gate?
Sometimes, you may experience issues with your garage opener, whether it is for industrial or residential doors. This could be due to many factors influencing how the control board or other mechanical parts work. If you experience that your garage will not auto close, this could be due to the timer-to-close function not operating correctly. Several LiftMaster gate operators use this function to close a garage door automatically.
What Is The Timer-To-Close Feature?
Timer-to-close (TTC) is a feature that can be used with specific LiftMaster garage openers with particular control panels. A compatible control panel is the 888LMW. This control panel has motion detection that also turns on the opener lights automatically. Using TTC is only suggested with sectional doors. So if you are using this feature for another type of door, this is why you may run into problems.
Why Won’t My Gate Auto Close?
If your TTC feature is not working with your garage opener, the first step would be to see if TTC is on. The factory setting for this feature is usually “off.” If you require this feature to be turned on, first of all, use a smart control panel with your garage opener. The smart control panel will automatically turn this feature on when the garage door opener is on the up limit and the safety reversing sensors are clear of any obstructions.

Setting TTC On The 881LM Motion Detecting Control Panel
To set the feature on this unit, press the TTC button.
How Do You Suspend TTC?
To stop TTC, press the “hold open” button on your Motion Detecting Control Panel or, if using a Smart Control Panel, use the menu to navigate to this option. TTC can be turned on again with the Smart Control Panel by pressing “hold open” again or using the menu to search for Timer-To-Close. If these options don’t sound appealing, simply cycling through can help enable TTC again.
Still Can’t Get TTC To Work?
If Timer-To-Close is still not functioning after adjusting it, refer to the manual that comes with either the 880LM or 881LM. If there is a more severe issue, the Manufacturer's warranty from LiftMaster may cover a replacement.
